  • What is TEFL /TESOL?

    TEFL is an abbreviation for Teaching English as a Foreign Language, to teach English in a country where English is not the first language. 
    TESOL, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, encompasses both TEFL and TESL and can mean either one or both.

  • What do you need to teach English in China?

    Four conditions: (1) You need to be a native English speaker. If you're not, you need have native-like English Proficiency and educated at a university in native English speaking country like UK/USA/Canada/Australia/Ireland etc. (2) You need have a bachelor degree (for a few cases college degree is acceptable however it needs confirmation from our professional HR in advance). (3) You need pass through the criminal record check to get the work permit (4) You need work and live independently in a foreign country with different culture for a year or longer. Professional service and support is available from Echo Education to get you through all of the complicated procedures from the first contact to the possible culture shock after your arrival.

  • Who would be my main contact when we get to China?

    The recruiter and an appointed person in the company. In most cases, the school assigns a person as well.

  • If I am not treated well or I don't like the school, do I contact Echo and will it be sorted out?

    We will consider this situation as an issue and do any necessary mediation.

  • Do you do an induction or orientation?  How long is this and where will I stay?

    Yes, we have orientation sessions for 3-5 days. And we will help you with Sim card and bank card, you will stay in a hotel near to the company, and we pay the hotel expense.

  • What happens when I arrive at the airport ?

    One of our Echo employees will meet you at the airport.

  • How do teachers get medical insurance reimbursed?

    The health insurance is in the package. The teacher will be bought the medical insurance days after his / her arrival. When the teacher is seeking for a medical care, he or she should pay the expense and keep the receipt back to the company. Then our service people will help him or her to get the money reimbursed within a few days. 

  • Will I have medical insurance when I'm in China?

    Echo follows the states regulations to get foreign teacher's working permit, and buy the medical insurance for you. You can have health service in most hospitals, and get reimbursement.

  • Will any type of TEFL certificate be suitable? 

    The TEFL certificates is always a plus factor for our clients to accept the teacher, and for the visa office to approve the working permit. 

  • At what point is the school, accommodation, meals, internet etc confirmed with me and will we always get photographs in advance?

    Usually shortly after our clients sign contract with Echo, we will have this information, and the candidates can know it during the interview or some occasions afterwards. However, this can only be true when we both agree on the school assignments, as the result, sometime it's hard to have a fixed appointment.
