To all Echo Teachers
Ok there’s no point in ignoring the fact that a lot of teachers have been left unnerved by the recent Coronavirus outbreak. We are still in the midst of the situation and at this point definite answers about how all this will play out are not easy to come by with any certainty. What we do know is the local government in Zhejiang appears to be on top of things with no recorded fatality in the province.
All we want to do at this point is just remind you that when all this is over, you're still very much needed. We need you, your schools need you and your students need you. We are not asking you to risk your health and we certainly won’t contradict any official government advice from your home country. However, we know all this uncertainty must have got many of you pondering about your long term future. Now’s a time to remember the good times. China will get through this and students will grow to become well-rounded adults, we still want you to be a part of their future.
Many of you have built a life out here with close friends and colleagues. For some of you, your hearts are well and truly placed in China. Severing ties with your life in Hangzhou may be too rash a decision. We want you to know that we will work our hardest to facilitate your re-entry back into work when the appropriate time comes. We will continue to liaise with you and issue updates as soon as we hear from the local authorities.
Stay safe and well. Take this spare time to brush up on your Chinese and get lesson plans fine-tuned in advance.
